- How to use:
- Protect hands with gloves or a handkerchief during operation to avoid the possibility of infection through minor skin injuries.
- Grip the forceps and firmly grasp the tick, as close as possible to the skin; press the top button to allow the tick to be grasped and release it slowly; proceed with a gentle counterclockwise rotation and pull lightly, without too much strain, to avoid breaking of the insect;
- If the rostrum of the tick remains inside the skin, extract it with the help of a sterile needle. Usually, any left residuals of the tick body do not have consequences;
- Apply disinfectants and antibiotics on the affected part only after the tick has been extracted, by avoiding those colouring the skin (iodine tincture, mercurochrome) because they could mask signs of infection;
- The extracted tick must be placed in a closed container with alcohol, oil or other substance to be killed. It should not be crushed, this would cause its eggs to spread.
